Getting a handle on what you need to get settled or start a business in Beijing, be it getting a work permit, housing documents or materials for starting a company sorted, is about to get easier.

As of Sep 2, 2023, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality has officially launched a new WeChat account for their official web portal. Named BeijingService, the new account is a one stop shop for streamlined, up-to-date, and user-friendly digital government services catered to foreign enterprises and expats.

BeijingService consists of three main categories: Discover, Business, and Services.

Discover covers working, living, studying, traveling, and consuming in the capital. The section will provide end-to-end and situation-based online services to address the diverse needs of users in various scenarios.

As the title might suggest, the Business section of the portal is focused on business in Beijing, especially in regards to establishing a top-tier business environment in the capital and offering extensive business-related services. Through this section, foreign enterprises can access one-stop investment and operational services, as well as stay up to date on the latest business environment reforms taking place in the city.

Finally, there's Services, which delves into prioritizing the concerns of foreign enterprises and expats living and working in Beijing. It offers dedicated channels for scheduling appointments related to visas, residence permits, and accomodation registration. Additionally, the section also provides comprehensive guidelines regarding frequently encountered issues, such as education, work permits, and medical services.

Beijing has sought to focus more on the needs of foreign enterprises and expats in recent years, be it in terms of investing, business operations, working, studying, living, or traveling. An example of this commitment came in October 2020, when the city government unveiled an official web portal available in eight languages: English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic.

This website provides press releases, public services, inquiry services, and exchanges, all in order to provide foreign enterprises and expats with a platform for one-stop and full-process online services. BeijingService can be considered the next step in this focus on foreigner friendly servjces. Along with all its aforementioned features, it can also directly access the official web portal, providing users a more comprehensive range of services in eight languages.

The seamless integration between the web portal and new WeChat account enables users to enjoy outstanding benefits provided by a digital and international service platform.
